Rucking…
Rucking, or call it just good old fashioned backpacking, is a great way to fit in exercise as it builds core strength, balance, bone density and endurance.
The entry level requirements are very low. All that is needed is a backpack and a place to walk.
We have beautiful trails in Fredericton and the surrounding areas to explore, such as Killarney lake and Odell park.
You can load up your backpack, as much or as little as you like, but it is always better to start low.
It is a good idea to start at around 10% of your body weight.
I recommend bottled water, as weight, because you can reduce the amount, at any time, by either drinking or dumping out a little.
For maximum comfort and balance place a rolled-up towel or blanket in the bottom of the bag first. This will help distribute the weight evenly.
City folk can graduate to backpacking for groceries, and other daily outings, while saving a bundle on fuel.
Backpacking is a great way to get some exercise, fresh air, and sunshine.
Plus, it can be a wonderful way to catch up with friends and loved ones.
